GotZ Week 1


Guardian of the 'Za - Week 1 Devlog (Jan 23 - Jan 29, 2022)

This week, we finished forming our team for GotZ and developed our game idea further.
During a meeting in the middle of the week, we brainstormed different ideas for where we wanted to take our game and how exactly we wanted it to play as. We ended up going with a the theme of pizza delivery guy trying to get a high tip. We also added in the idea of controlling a guardian angel that can place objects to craft the environment around the runner. After our brainstorming session, we created and presented our game pitch.

On Saturday, we picked up some art team members, and began working on a basic proof-of-concept during the game jam. We ended up creating a small but fun game where the angel has to spawn in platforms to prevent the pizza guy from jumping off into a bottomless pit below. It was a great learning and bonding experience for everyone on the team, and it gave us the opportunities to play around with what we felt made our game fun. 

Our goals for next week are to better explore what ideas we want to run with, and to then play around with implementing them into our tech demo.
